In general, participants are volunteer leaders of Hampton Roads membership organizations such as:

  • Professional societies;
  • Civic associations;
  • Fraternal groups; or other
  • Community service organizations.


Participants and their organizations generally share common interests such as:

  • Sharing best practices
  • Programming development, logistics and attendance
  • Membership management (attract, obtain, retain)
  • Marketing, Communications, and Outreach (business, academic, public service)
  • The transitory nature of population (military, etc)
  • Volunteer management (attract, obtain, retain)
  • Volunteer Leadership pipeline (train, support, succession)
  • Funding opportunities (member fees, event fees, sponsorships, donations)
  • Access to shared resources (accounting, marketing, event planning)
  • Meeting effectiveness (planning, execution, accountability)
  • Collaboration and networking opportunities with other member organizations



About Us

Purpose: The Professional Development Consortium of Hampton Roads (PDCHR) helps leaders of area professional societies, civic groups, fraternal orders, and other apolitical community associations enjoy an impactful time in their leadership role.

Vision: PDCHR will be the premier regional source of leadership learning, knowledge, and connection for the association profession. We will provide resources, education, ideas, and advocacy to enhance the power and performance of the local association community. 

Mission: We provide intimate, accessible, and high-quality education tailored to the goals and challenges of association leadership..

About the logo:

The green and blue arcs represent the land and the water that connect the Hampton Roads community.

The arcs are also part of intersecting circles, representing how successful leaders coordinate team efforts.

The overall shape indicates two hands that collaborate in support of our community.
